Construction
A pre-insulated pipe consists of three parts:

Carrier pipe
Centered in the insulation is the media pipe, which is typically a seamless steel pipe in material quality P235GH according to EN10216-2 (st.35.8I). Other possible material qualities include longitudinally welded steel pipes in P235GH in accordance with EN10217-2 (st.37).

Insulation
The carrier pipe is covered by insulation from either:

  • Polyisocyanurate foam (PIR foam) or
  • Polyurethane foam (PUR foam combined with mineral wool)

Casing
The exterior surface consists of a protective polyethylene (PE-HD) casing, which prevents moisture entering the insulation.

Above ground high temperature system:
The above ground system is delivered with PIR foam and is a fixed pipe system. This means that the outer casing follows the expansion of the media pipe, and pipe supports can be mounted directly on the casing. Expansion is generally absorbed in bends and expansion joints. It can also be used for buried systems.

  • For operating temperatures from 120 ° C to 170 ° C

Buried high temperature system, HT3:
The buried system is delivered with PUR foam and mineral wool, and functions as a sliding system, ie. the carrier pipe expands inside the insulation without causing movement in the outer casing in the soil. Expansion is absorbed in the system by compensators or expansion bends.

We have two standard insulation series:

Series 210 for operating temperatures from 120 ° C to 210 ° C
Series 250 for operating temperatures from 120 ° C to 250 ° C

From pipe to system
A smoothly operating pipe system is dependent on its joints. LOSTOR industrial pipes can be combined in several ways, depending on the required pipe routing. The simplest and cheapest solution is to choose straight pipes and join them using joints. But they can also be connected using standard fittings and joints. If required, we can supply a specially designed system with special fittings as a complete solution. Whatever the requirements, the systems can be installed quickly and effectively, once and for all, using our extensive range of standard fittings comprising straight joints, bends, T-joints, end-caps and other fittings – it is almost as easy as building a LEGO set. And the result is the ideal pipe system.
