Our Service Department in Fredericia, Denmark, has partnered with Clayton to transition service vans from traditional liquid fuel generators to electric power banks connected to solar roof panels. This initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution, enhance safety and mobility, and save costs, all while improving our public image.
The initial testing started last year in December, and in April the final solution was implemented in the first 3 vans.
Powering towards sustainability
The transition from traditional fuelled generators to electrical power banks with solar power signifies a strategic move towards sustainability and operational efficiency in our service van operations. We see several benefits when replacing the fuelled generators with battery packs:
- Almost complete elimination of noise (generators being very noisy and battery packs silent, the difference is striking)
- Improved safety by eliminating risks associated with fuel storage
- CO2e-footprint decrease (estimated 13 tons savings per van and year)
