General product information

A pre-insulated pipes consist of a carrier pipe encased by PUR insulation and on the outside a shockproof and watertight PE jacket.

Carrier pipe
The choice of carrier pipe depends on the medium to be transported and the actual operating temperature. The carrier part is available in steel, stainless steel, copper and plastic.
The following types of carrier pipes form part of the LOGSTOR standard product programme:

Standard steel pipes PG235GH(EN 10217) - St. 37.0 BW

  • High frequency welded P235 GH according to EN 10217-2 or EN10217-5 (St. 37.0 BW / DIN 1626). Technical delivery terms according to EN10217. Measure and weight according to DIN 2458.
  • Works' certificate according to EN 10204/3.1 B.

Application
Heat and steam (T < 210°C).

Steel pipes for high or low temperatures PG235GH TC1(EN10216) - St. 35.8 I
Seamless steel pipes P235 GH TC1 according to EN 10216 (St. 35.8 I / DIN 17175). Measure and weight according to DIN 2448.
Works' certificate according to EN 10204/ 3.1 B.

Application
Heat, steam and condensate.

Mechanical properties for PG235GH:
Tensile strength > 360 N/mm2
Yield stress > 235 N/mm2
E-module 2,1·105 N/mm2
Thermal properties
Coefficient of expansion 1,2·10-5 °C-1
Specific heat 0,48 kJ/kg°C
Thermal conductivity  76 W/m°C

Insulation

The temperature of the medium is decisive for the choice of type of insulation. LOGSTOR's cooling pipes are insulated with special HCFC/CFC-free PUR foam applicable for the temperature range -200°C to +140°C. In addition to that flexible pipe systems with foam are available in the temperature range -200°C to +120°C. If the temperature ranges between 140°C and 250°C, the composition of the mineral wool insulation and the PUR foam must be adjusted according to the actual temperature.

Pre-insulated straight pipes and components for bonded systems are supplied with PUR insulation of hard polyurethane foam.

PUR insulation
Hard polyurethane foam (PUR) that meet the
functional requirements according to EN 253:
Material: Polyurethane foam made from polyol
and isocyanate. The foam is homogeneous,
the middle size of the cells is max. 0,5 mm.
Density  >= 60 kg/m3
Closed cells  > 88%
Water absorption at boiling  <= 10% (Vol)
Tensile strength 10% deformation >= 0,3 N/mm2
Axial shearing strength >= 0,12 N/mm2
Tangential shearing strength  >= 0,20 N/mm2
Thermal conductivity at 50°C < 0,03 W/m°C
Max. operating temperature >= 140°C

Jacket pipes
The industrial pipes are supplied as standard with a HDPE (polyethylene) jacket in black or white.

Black HDPE jacket pipes are UV-resistant as a result of admixture of UV-inhibiting additives. Black jacket pipes are consequently applicable outdoors as well as indoors.

White jacket pipes are moderately UV-resistant and are applicable for indoor installations.

HDPE jacket material
Polyethylene with high density.
Mechanical properties for HDPE:

Density  > 940 kg/m
Yield stress  > 19 N/mm²
Max. compressive stress
(transport)  3 N/mm
(continuous)  0,5 N/mm²
Thermal properties:
Coefficient of expansion 2.  10-4 °C-1
Thermal conductivity  0,43 W/m°C
Melt index  0,3-0,8 g/10 min.

Detection wires
The steel and copper programme is available with embedded detection wires for indicator of moisture in the insulation caused by damages on the jacket or casing pipe. Damages due to moisture can consequently be detected in time and repaired before it gives rise to corrosion damages on the carrier pipe. See LOGSTOR's district heating catalogue.

Joints
LOGSTOR's industrial programme is primarily based on its concept: Straight pipes and joints. We offer a number of joints, which are adjusted to the application of pipes and components. The joints are supplied according to two basic principles:

  • Joints for foaming on site
  • Joints with prefabricated PUR half shells.

All joints are manufactured in shrinkable plastic materials. In the case of freely suspended pipes the concept of straight pipes and joints is used for jackets up to ø315. This product programme includes bend joints, straight joints, T-joints, reduction and repair joint and end caps.
As for buried pipelines LOGSTOR's district heating joints are used.

Fittings

LOGSTOR offers an extensive fittings programme that completes our joint solutions. It includs:

  • Bends
  • T-joints
  • Reductions
  • Anchors
